31/10/11 - MTS vs St Marys Under 9 Football Match - Ted Reed's report

Merchant Taylors' vs St Marys Under 9 Football Match

Team: Ben Maitland, Harvey Locke-Edmunds, Ted Reed, James Carragher, James Moores-Pearce, Ellis Coulter, Marcus Baldwin, Tom Baybutt-Scull.

On the 31st October Merchant Taylors' U9's played football against St Marys. St Marys had a strong team and a quick winger. When we kicked off they pressed hard and by 5 minutes they put the ball in our box and I tried to clear it but it came off me and went into our net. We kicked off well and put pressure on them straight away and James passed to Harvey who then threaded a ball to Jamie who scored 1-1. Pressing forward Ben kicked a long ball, which got to Harvey who ran down the wing and passed to James who shot at goal with his left foot and scored 2-1.

At half time Mr O'Shaughnessy brought on Tom for Ellis, to assist Marcus in midfield. Later Harvey scored from the edge of the box 3-1. Another long ball from Ben to reach James' foot resulting in a shot too powerful for their goalkeeper 4-1. I passed to Harvey who skilfully found Tom in a good position and scored 5-1. The last and final goal was from Ben's kick to Harvey who controlled the ball to score 6-1.
