AJIS Athletics Tournament at Wigan

Our Athletics Teams were busy out in Wigan today for an indoor athletics tournament.

On the 7th of February 2012, a few boys from years 5 and 6 took part in the AJIS Indoor Athletics Tournament at Robin Park, Wigan.

The events included: ‘1 lap,' ‘3 laps,' Indoor Javelin, Standing Long and Triple Jump, ‘Vertical Jump,' ‘Chest Push,' ‘Speed Bounce,' and ‘Balance.' At the tournament there were about 25 other schools, including Stanfield.

First it was the U11's track events, unfortunately nobody won anything in that section for our school. Then we had the U10's field events, where Fraser Jones managed to come 3rd in the triple jump. Straight after that we had our lunch, which for most of us was delicious!

Next up was the U11's field events. Both Abhinav and I jumped our way to victory! He came first in the vertical jump and I came first in the triple jump. Also, Harri Morris came 2nd in the chest push. Will. T just missed out, coming 4th in the javelin.
The last solo events were the U10 track. Sadly nobody came anywhere for our school. We finished with the relays: the Obstacle Relay for 4 people and the ‘6 Lap' relay for 2.
Well done to everyone who participated, especially those who had never competed in an athletics tournament for the school before.
