My teaching career really began at the age of 5! I would spend hours on end in front of a class of teddy bears and dolls teaching the "3 R's"! Coming from a Welsh family of teachers I suppose I was destined to follow in their footsteps - I certainly wouldn't have wanted to have changed.

My first rewarding teaching post was at Pinehurst Avenue Junior Boys School in Anfield, Liverpool. I taught there for eleven enjoyable years teaching all subjects, including football and cricket! I spent many hours in the freezing conditions at Dwery House refereeing football matches! After two years I was given responsibility for music and formed a choir who had many successes in Music North West festivals, even appearing on Granada TV (my claim to fame!).

Deputy headship was next on the cards but then I decided to do some market research, just to learn about parents' needs of course, and have two sons of my own! It was after the birth of my first son, Christopher, that I decided being a mother was more important than anything and I became a full-time mum, enjoying every step. Then my second son, Jonathan, was born; the icing on the cake!

When my sons reached school age I returned to teaching as a supply teacher in Sefton teaching all ages in the Junior school - quite an experience! I then worked a couple of terms at Stanfield before being appointed as Year 6 teacher at MTS Boys' School, in 1994, for six years. I then spent the next few years teaching Year 5 and in September 2009 moved back up to being a Year 6 teacher. Two of my responsibilities are as co-ordinator of Science and also Music, teaching the subjects to different year groups. I train, and conduct, the choir which I formed on my arrival at MTS; I have trained adult choirs in the past but I find working with young voices, in some ways, more rewarding.

My sons are now fully independent, Christopher - an MTS old boy - graduated at Liverpool University four years ago with a degree in Computer Science and Economics and Jonathan ,who left MTS in June 2009 ,is now enjoying university life in Manchester keeping the family tradition in teaching.

My interests include music and drama. I was lead soprano in the Crosby Gilbert & Sullivan Society for eleven years and have sung semi-professionally in the North West and London. I studied drama for seven years attaining Grade 6 in Guild Hall exams and enjoyed performing with Lucilla ADS. My husband Charles has always supported me over the years and we now enjoy frequenting concerts, especially the Philharmonic Hall, when we can end the evening enjoying sampling the many menus of great restaurants in the city.

We enjoy gardening, spending many a Sunday afternoon browsing at Lady Green, and walking in the Lakes and Peak District with our adorable Labrador called Megan. We are both content to enjoy the good things in life... good food, good wine, good company, good music and more importantly our family.
