Cakes, cakes, glorious cakes! - report on the MacMillan Cake Sale by J5W

Dylan and John Cakes

Dylan and John get messy with the cakemaking

On Friday 28th September, the Junior School held a charity cake sale  in aid of the Macmillan Cancer Appeal. Today, Britain is taking part in a National Coffee morning in aid of this most worthwhile charity but, as we can't give the boys coffee for safety reasons (and most of them don't like it anyway!) we thought we'd sell cakes instead, which the boys (and some of the teachers...you can guess which ones, no doubt!)  thought was better.

Ready, steady......Go!

Ready, steady...GO!

We had a vast amount of cakes and many eager shoppers who enjoyed stuffing them down their 'cake holes'. Some sold out really quickly while some still remnain unsold. We are therefore extending the cake sale to lunchtime as well, possibly allowing some of the senior teachers and boys to get involved.  There were so many cakes that we were able to hold a sale at lunchtime and last break.

A vast array of fantastic cakes

The boys - and their parents - put a lot of hard work into baking these delicious cakes and a big thanks to everyone who got involved.  We have raised over £200 for the MacMillan Cancer Appeal.

A scramble for the delicious cakes

Dominic Armstrong, a member of J5W was heard to be muttering "Yum, yum, cakes in my tum!" over and over again while Mr Wardle and Mrs Rogers were unable to speak due to the large amount of lemon drizzle cake being consumed.  Well done to everone!

Jack tries to fit a whole donut into his mouth at once. Mrs Rogers can!
