Crosby Christmas Lights are turned on with a little help from the Choir

Crosby Lights Switch-on 3

It was an exciting time last Friday evening as the Junior Boys Choir was invited, for the third year running, to help with the switch-on of the Christmas lights in Crosby Village.

We were a bit rushed so we had to jog along Liverpool Road to get to the Dune FM stage in time...but we made it.  We were ushered on stage just after listening to Liverpool group Eton Road do their sound check.  Some of the boys were lucky enough to meet them and got autographs.  Then it was our turn.

We took to the stage and there appeared to be hundreds of people out there watching us. We did have a bit of a delay as we didn't have the music books (they were on the table back in the Junior Hall!) but Mr Bennett came to the rescue and we were soon equipped with our necessary tools for a good performance.

We had a very appreciative audience of shoppers and parents, together with the staff of Dune FM who seemed to be pleased with what they heard.

We sang traditional carols, such as 'Away in a Manger' and 'Silent Night'  We also sang 'Santa Claus is coming to Town' and 'Sleigh Bells'. We didn't use a piano this year and were accompanied by Mr Wardle on the guitar and conducted by Mrs Davies, who was later interviewed on stage by DJ Johnny Kennedy.

It was a super concert and the lights, when they were switched on by Eton Road a little later, looked superb.

Well done boys...you sounded FAB!

(Thanks to Mrs Paxton for the photos - what would I do without you??!! - Mr W)
