J6 trip to The Plaza to see War Horse

Following on from the Year 6's efforts in the Entrance Exam their teachers gave them a treat - a trip to the cinema to see War Horse.  Jonathan Liu tells us all about it...but don't read if you don't want to know what happens!!

On the 1st of February, Merchant Taylors Junior Boys school year six went to the Plaza Cinema, Crosby, to watch the film War Horse. It was a freezing cold sunny morning when the year set of down the road towards the cinema and when we arrived we settled into the cinema's seats as the film began.
I thoroughly enjoyed the film and despite being two and a half hours long, it never got boring. The story is located in Devon and the battlefields of the First World War. The story is set before and during the war, War Horse tells the tale of the remarkable friendship between a horse called Joey and a young man called Albert, who broke Joey. Together the pair maintains a bond of friendship and they achieve almost impossible tasks together. When ‘The Great War' breaks out the pair are torn apart by war after Albert's father sells the horse due to financial difficulties, Joey still continued to inspire people on his epic odyssey. They include British troops and cavalry, German soldiers and a French farmer and his granddaughter. Despite the slim chances of Joey being alive, Albert joins the war to seek his beloved horse. After being blinded by poison gas, he and Albert are reunited after 4 years.
I thoroughly enjoyed the film and I found it very emotional at times (It even made tears come to my eyes). I will be looking forward to watch it again and I highly recommend it.
