On October 3rd MTS took part in a cross-country race at Rossall School, Lancashire. There were many boys from all across the region taking part.
It took about and hour and a half to get there and as we got to the school Mrs Rogers told us to eat our lunch on the bus.
It was a bit cramped on the bus and it was no fun trying to eat my pasta salad with someone's elbow in my face!
We finally got of the bus and it was a bit of a walk up to the race field. Rossall is a boarding school and it is really big. There was guide to meet us and the first place he showed us was the toilet and yes I really needed it after the long bus ride.
Next he showed us our post where we all gathered and did some stretches. As we did a little warm up run, Jack Grant was next to me and said his ankle was hurting again but I think it was just an excuse in case he lost!!The first race was for Year 5 and 130 boys took part. The whistle blew and they were off. After they went past the hill we didn't see them for a while.
I lost hope but then runners came back into view. At first there were no yellow shirts until James came running through the pack and the rest soon followed. With James coming 32nd , Matthew 61st , William 62nd , William Gilby 82nd , Harry May 87th , Marcus 100th , Max 108th.
Then it was time for the Year 6 race, with 138 boys taking part.
Our race course was a little bit longer than the Year 5 race. I set off feeling a little nervous but it was a great race.
Amazingly Matty came 7th with Brendan not that far behind coming in 9th. Next was Kieran at 35th Callum 57th, Me 66th "go me", Oliver M 68th, Harry Yip 69th and Jack 97th .
Well done to all the lads who participated and I hope everyone had a great time because I certainly did.
I would also like thank Mrs Rogers and Mrs Wynne for accompanying us and giving us great encouragement and support.
