Junior School entertainment is music to our ears
The annual Musical evening took place on Thursday 25th June. Tom Avann, one of the stars on the night, writes...

Tom becomes Joseph for for the night
On Thursday 25th June 2009 the Brass Band, choir members and music competition winners all gathered together for a summer concert on a wonderful sunny evening. The brass band kicked the evening off with 3 pieces, "British Grenadiers", "Floral Dance" and "Marching Marines". Alex Papp, winner of U9 piano played the "Indian War Dance". He played it like a professional. He was also the only J3 boy performing in the show.
Then the choir performed two songs from "Oliver", "Food Glorious Food" and "Who Will Buy". The solist was Michael Hilledon, winner of vocal in the music competition. He is quite the hero to the choir.
Joseph Taylor, winner of strings then played "Minuet in D". He did a brilliant job of playing a difficult piece on the violin.
Mr Wardle & Mrs Davies then perfomed their first duet, "Phantom of the Opera". They seemed to really enjoy their performance.
Vyas Burra, the winner of U9 brass played "Easy Winners". In my opinion he is the best brass player in J4. Well done Vyas !
The choir then performed two songs from "Les Miserables". I wish Susan Boyle was watching us !
This was followed by the interval when drinks and canapes were served outside. We even got to play out in the evening sunshine.
The second half of the show was opened by the brass band once again. This time they played "Marching Saints", "Hoe Down" and "Cossack Dance".
Then four of the strongest voices in the choir, Michael Hillesdon, Christian Goldberg, Sam Miley and Tom Avann (Me!) sang Pie Jesu from Lloyd Webbers requiem. This is a beautiful piece and we all enjoyed singing it.
Thomas Fitter, winner of U11 piano then played "Sonatina Clementi". He played this very difficult piece without a single mistake. Absolutely amazing.
The choir followed this by performing "Memory" from Cats. We spent the most time rehearsing this. I now love this song.
Dominic Armstrong, winner of U11 brass played "Earl of Salisbury Pavanne". He did a great job of this. Well done Dom!.
It was now my big moment as Joseph when I performed "Close Every Door to Me " and "Any Dream Will Do". I felt really proud of my performance and my Mum cried!!. Even Mr Wardle was in shock !. It was definitely my most memorable moment of all my time in the Junior School.
Mr Wardle & Mrs Davies then performed "All I Ask of You" from "Phantom of the Opera". (Luckily the lights went out when they kissed!!)
For the finale, IMPACT made up of Sam Downing (singer), Charlie Harrocks (guitar) and James Owen (drums) performed "We Will Rock You", "Wipeout" and, the best finale ever "Twist and Shout". What a great way to end a great night !!.
