Matthew and Ben enjoy Cricket Day out

Hello my name is Matthew White and I would like to tell you about a magnificent day I had at Lord's cricket ground in London with my friend Ben Coulthurst. I didn't just go there because we were in London! I went there because my Dad took me to Old Trafford and there was an Easter egg hunt, forty Easter eggs and two tickets to play cricket with one of the England Captains - Alastair Cook! Amazing isn't it?

Finally the day came and we couldn't believe that we were in London standing outside the most famous cricket ground in the world. The first thing we did was have a tour round the stadium, in the media centre , the museum to see the ashes, the Long room and finally the pavilion where we met Alastair Cook in the England dressing room. He was handsome, so friendly and funny. We had a quick question and answer session. Alastair Cook told us some of the things that the squad got up to in that room, like when Matt Prior leaned his bat against the window and broke it. Also when Andrew Strauss was putting his helmet in the bag but instead of placing the helmet down he threw it and his helmet bounced out of the pavilion into the crowd and it hit someone!
Next we had a two hour batting session which was really enjoyable, the coaches were great and Alastair spent a lot of time with us. He watched us and he even said I was a decent player and bowled a few balls at people and gave me some advice, I also got to hold his bat.

After a tiring session of cricket we had a buffet meal for supper with Alastair Cook. The food was amazing. Then it was a question and answer time with Alastair Cook about his lifetime through cricket. I had a great time and hopefully I can do it again.
