We have appointed a Manager to run and develop our new multi million pound sports facility, the Ian Robinson Sports Centre. Joe Coombes, who previously worked as the Sports Development Officer at Liverpool Hope University, has pursued a career focused around sport. He read Sport Development & Coaching at Sheffield Hallam University and after graduating in 2003 spent time as a sports coach before joining Liverpool Hope. Joe was born and currently lives in Liverpool, but spent most of his childhood living on the Wirral.
Joe is looking forward to the challenge of his new role here, he said 'I was already aware of the Schools' sporting prowess and general reputation so am excited at the opportunity that this new facility presents for the future of the Schools. I know it is going to be a role that I will find both challenging and fulfilling. As well offering a great facility for current pupils and future generations, it is also our aim to allow members of the local community to gain access through various means such as memberships, sports hall bookings, coaching courses, children's holiday clubs and a wide range of fitness classes in the dance studio. My role is to develop this aspect over the next 2/3 years however the priority for the short term is to development the Centre's usage across the Schools.'
Outside of work Joe has also mixed sport with pleasure by travelling to include trips to India and Malawi to discuss the importance of PE & Sport Development in education. He recently helped set a world record for continuous 5aside football.
