The Storyteller arrives in Years 3 and 4
Monday 3rd March was going to be an interesting day. Junior 3 were excited, full of anticipation and intrigue as they were going to be listening to and enacting stories from faraway lands.
We arrived at the junior hall and we were greeted by a gentleman dressed in an embroidered cloak and headdress. In one corner there were a variety of props, masks, hats, coats and beads. We sat down and immediately the journey of stories began. We were all given a part to play in the different stories. Here's Arav's account of the visit...
THE STORYTELLER - WRITTEN BY ARAV SOIN - J3R
On Monday 3 March J3 had a storyteller to come round. He told some great stories. He made us act in the plays. I performed in two stories, The Canine Cousins and one which name I can't remember. I was a very smart person whose name was Know-it-all. There was also Cleverish played by Dylan and Oscar played Smart-Al. In the play there was also their friend who was not very clever. He always got teased. One day the three smarty-pants try to make dry animal bones have flesh and air and blood. Their friend climbs up a tree in case it's a predator. He's right. So the three smarty-pants turn the bones back into an animal, a lion. They get eaten up by the lion and are never seen again. As for their friend, he sold their books and made a small fortune.
THE END
That was only one story but all the rest are really funny. Some are fun and others are a bit weird. There was another story called ‘The Rich Couple'. It was a story about two people who have a competition. I'll tell you the story about it -
Once in a far away land there was a very rich couple. One day they were having tea when a cold gush of air made the door open. The man and lady argue who should shut the door. They decided to have a competition, whoever moves first has to go and shut the door. After an hour a group of robbers see the door open and come in. They steal everything and leave the couple sitting as still as a statue, naked! Soon the police come and think that the couple are wax statues. The man slams his fist on the table, so he moved first and had to go and shut the door naked!
I still enjoyed this story even though I wasn't in it. It was really funny. The storyteller was really nice and had travelled all around the world. It was a really fun day. I learnt about lots of different countries including Australia. I would like to go and visit it one day.
Year 4 also had a visit from the Storyteller - Chris Hagerty tells us about it, with a little help from his friends.
