Travelling to schools in the Greater Manchester area can often result in long delays amidst motorway congestion particularly during the rush hour return. This trip was more arduous than normal with traffic jams making our journey home longer than it should have been. Not the sort of journey one needs when feeling sullen through defeat. Fortunately for us we where in high spirits and the journey passed quickly in the euphoria of a resounding victory.
The senior team so far unbeaten this season where joined by a junior school team determined to add to an unbeaten record that incredibly spans almost a decade.
With the junior school swimmers opening the proceedings our under 10 team impressed, by winning all of their events dropping just 1 point from the maximum possible along the way. A battling performance from the under 11’s ensured the junior team could claim another victory with a contribution to the overall score of 85 point to 67.
Buoyed by the fine start, the senior boys set off a at blistering pace with our under 12’s surpassing the achievements of the incredibly talented under 10’s by claiming maximum points finishing 1st and 2nd each of the individual events as well as winning both relay events. An under strength open team fought hard as did the under 13’s to earn 2 points and 4 points victories respectively. Our under 15’s managed to draw 38 point apiece and an excellent 14 point win from the under 14’s completed an excellent nights swimming. The final result MTS 214 pts Bury 166 pts. A terrific result which was welcomed by one family in particular when history was made as all three of their sons featured in the same team for the first time. Phillip, Sam and Lewis Latham well done to each of them.

History is made - The Latham Brothers all swimming in the same team
