Monday 1st October The junior boys swimming team began the season having inherited a huge responsibility: continuity. In short, to try to continue the impressive record of not being beaten as a team since March 1998. The opposition, Stanfield, without question an equally strong powerful squad of swimmers. Making their debuts our youngest swimmers, year 3, after only as handful of lessons.
The atmosphere was electric as parents and grandparents packed the poolside to watch two of the best swimming teams in the North West swim against each other in this annual encounter.
The under 8's opened their account with some impressive swims winning their age group by just 4 points. A fine début win for Michael Sumner in the freestyle was not enough to help the battling U9's who eventually lost by 9 points.
With the under 10's and under 11's proving too strong the junior boys won overall by 18pts. Many of the boys swam outstandingly together setting 24 new personal best times. One special mention must go to Perry Sanders of Year 3 who swam a brilliant 25m Breaststroke, almost breaking the school record at his first attempt.
