The Junior School Choir Sing at Saint Faith’s Tree Festival

By Jonathan Liu Y6Y - thanks Jonathan!!
On the 6th of December the Merchant Taylors Junior Boys School Choir went to Saint Faiths Church, Crosby, to sing at the St Faiths tree festival. After walking through rain and strong winds, we finally reached the church. Our choir was conducted by Mrs Davies, Mrs Knight played the piano accompaniment and Mr Wardle occasionally played the guitar.
We sang-
• Mary's Boy Child
• Bells Ring Out
• The Donkey Song
• One Bright Star (Jonathan Liu sang the solo)
• The Little Drummer Boy
• Winter Wonderland
• Santa Claus is Coming to Town
• Jingle Bells
• Away in a Manger
• Silent Night (Mrs Davies and Mr Wardle sang a descant)
At the end of the concert, the choir had an opportunity to look at the different Christmas trees which different schools contributed to the festival. Each school chose a charity and you could donate money to the charity. The choir group didn't manage to find Merchant Taylors Junior Boys School's Christmas tree, but we managed to find the Merchant Taylors Stanfield Junior Girls and Infant's Christmas tree. After an enjoyable time singing, we went back to school. I thoroughly enjoyed singing in the concert and it was an unforgettable experience. Our thanks go to our conductor, Mrs Davies, and our accompanists, Mrs Knight and Mr Wardle as it would not be possible without their help.
Thanks to Ehren Agarwal for an excellent report below
On the 6th of December 2011, the Junior Boys’ Choir sang at the Tree Festival at St Faith’s church.
1.30pm: We flung our coats on, grabbed our folders and we headed off down the road in the rain and sleet, accompanied by Mrs Davis, Mrs Knight and Mr Wardle. We eventually got to the church.
1.45pm: We arrived to find around twenty or thirty decorated Christmas trees scattered around the church-it was such a pretty sight! We couldn’t really admire their beauty as we had to get prepared for some singing!
2.00pm: Concert began - Some of our songs included - Winter Wonderland, Silent Night, Santa Claus is Coming and Jingle Bells. We also performed “One Bright Star” in which our very own Jonathan Liu sang a solo!
The highlight of the day was to give some money to charity and to take candy and chocolate off the trees!
3.00pm: Back at school.
All in all, it was a brilliant afternoon out and I would recommend the Tree Festival to one and all.
