The sun shines down on Year 5 Activity Day

They say that the sun always shines on the righteous!  Year 5 took part in a team-building activity day on the school fields today. The weather was simply stunning - hardly a cloud in the sky and the perfect day for being out on the school field.

The boys were randomly divided into three teams and took part in a variety of activities which involved communicating and working with one another, replicating what it is really like in the real world.

After a lively start the boys got down to their tasks and seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves. 3pm came around all to quickly and the events ended. The boys made their way back to class to get changed, pack homework bags (yuk) and get ready for home.

It was a truly brilliant day and the photos below are just a selected few of the ones that were taken during the day (some taken by our work experience pupil, Luca). They will be put on the student shared drive in the next few days and you will be able to access them from home via the school website. Boys' reports will appear here when they arrive.....soon I hope!.....in fact the first one has just arrived (8.05pm!) - see underneath the photos...

The Activity Day was exciting with lots of different challenges to complete. We all were elected a Team Leader for each challenge, who organised what happened during the challenge. Throughout the day the challenges we did were:

a) Hoverball
b) Matchstick
c) Bridge the gap
d) Dominoes
e) Island Rescue
f) Toxic Waste water bottle

The harder challenges were Matchstick, Dominoes and Toxic waste water bottle. Most teams tried to get as many challenges as they could, as there was a time limit to each challenge.

Teamwork was a major part in the activity day as without teamwork there would be more shouting and the ideas which were important to complete the challenge would not have been heard.

We enjoyed the activity day and we hope the Year 5s get to do it next year.
