I've been a member of the Junior School staff since September 1998, teaching in several subject areas. I run the computer clubs for the year 3 and 4 boys during lunchtimes on Thursdays and Fridays and I'm the staff representative/co-ordinator for the School Council. I'm also subject co-ordinator for Design and Technology and I spend a lot of time helping the boys to design and build all sorts of exciting things.

Before teaching at MTS, I held several positions at Southport College, where I began my teaching career in 1976. Whilst at Southport College I also undertook two Post Graduate courses, a Diploma in Early Years Education and a Certificate in Primary Retraining. I left Southport College as Head of Home Economics, Head of NVQ Child Care and Head of the BTEC National Diploma of Nursery Nursing courses. I then retrained in secretarial skills with an emphasis in IT.

My first professional acquaintance with Merchants was working for the Bursar's staff in April 1999, where I worked in the Development Office until May 2008. From May 2008, I increased the number of teaching periods but still work part-time.

My academic career took me through Lincoln Christ's Hospital High School and Northern Counties College of Newcastle University. As a Lincolnshire "Yellow Belly", I have had to get used to the damp weather of the North West, since I've spent my working life in these parts. I am married to John, who was the Head of German at MTBS. My two sons, Ben and Jonny are Old Boys of Merchants.

My interests include watching movies, Pilates and tasting good wine with my husband, who pretends to be an expert on it. I am also happy when Man Utd win as the banter is good with my Liverpool supporter colleagues and the boys. My attempts to play golf are still at the very frustrating stage, showing little signs of improvement but with a lot of enthusiasm.
