U 10's Cricket A team against Kings Chester- Match Report
On the 13th of June 2011, Merchant Taylors' U10 cricket A team played against Kings Chester. Our team consisted of Ehren Agarwal, captain, Nathan Lyon, Alex Thorpe, Daniel Dunne, Kunal Mahambre, Masimo Poli, Alex Powell, Mathew White, Shivaum Bapu, Lap Shun Chung, Michael Booth and Harry Morris.
We were playing pairs cricket, where every player bats for 3 overs and bowls at least one over. Every time you get out you minus 5 runs from the total.
I lost the toss and Chester decided to bat first.
After three overs Kunal got our first wicket, which was a catch taken by me. Merchants rejoiced at the first dismissal!
At the half-way stage they were on a total of 35. Chester, however, finished their innings with a total of 36 runs, having got out 12 times! I got four wickets, Kunal got two and most of the others got one each. Daniel Dunne took three amazing catches and Lap Shun fielded very well.
Our opening batting pair gave us a great start with Alex Powell hitting 3 fours! After the first three overs we were already on 22. At the half way stage we were well ahead on 48.
In the end we got 65 runs and beat Kings by 29 runs losing only 5 wickets in all.
In this match our best bat was Alex Powell (12runs), best bowler Ehren Agarwal (4 wickets), best fielders Daniel Dunne and Lap Shun and best all round performance was Kunal Mahambre (8 runs and 2 wickets).
Well done to everyone who played!
