U11 Rugby v King's School Macclesfield

U11 Rugby v King's School Macclesfield
Friday 2 December

King's ‘A' 7 MTS ‘A' 49
King's ‘B' 25 MTS ‘B' 30

This was our most convincing performance and shows what a long way the team has come since September. It was satisfying to see the plans we made executed well and the determination run through the team from 1 to 12. The coaching staff had asked for increased commitment and better movement of the ball away from the rucks; the boys responded splendidly so that 5 of the seven tries were scored on the wing, Eren Dundar crossing the line four times in all and Michael Booth once. Once again however it was Massimo Poli who was our most influential player, and this time his drive and work-rate rubbed off on his team mates as they harried the opposition into mistakes. Dan Dunne in particular was in rampaging mood in the pack. The forwards' support play allowed us to control possession and in spite of a penalty count which favoured King's by 8 to nil, the opposition rarely threatened our line, but did manage to score from a penalty 5 metres out midway through the second half. Impressively, our lads came back even more strongly to bag two more tries, rounding off a great afternoon.
All the lads deserve a pat on the back- in this form they will be hard to beat by anyone- but special praise goes to Ollie Scott who played his first full game in the second row after operating as a full-back for the B team previously.
Congratulations also to the ‘B' team for achieving their first win this year! They enjoyed a free flowing, end to end affair with optional tackling. Leo Bilal stood out here with some strong runs and John Robb was also prominent scoring two tries.
