Under 11 B v st Mary's on 28 -6-2011
The B team concluded their season with a comfortable win against local rivals St Mary's, Crosby who fielded their A team. This match showed how much progress the boys have made with their batting, bowling and fielding. Apart from a ‘wobble' in the middle of the innings when we lost three wickets in one mad over, the result never looked in doubt. Last pair skipper Oyebola and Carney came to the wicket needing 10 from four overs. They accomplished this with something to spare, putting on 25 runs, after Oyebola clipped his first ball for 4.
After winning the toss and electing to field, accurate bowling restricted the visitors to a modest 246 in 20 overs, Carney doing much damage with three wickets and a catch. Great catches were also taken by O'Sullivan and Oyebola as well as an athletic run-out executed by the eager Kyle Sanders.
The win follows the boys first victory on Saturday 18th June v Stockport Grammar, which they achieved without the hard-hitting Sanders brothers, who were at the National Swimming finals, and provides a fitting end to a season where 18 boys have turned out for the team.
The xi in the St Mary's match were:
Oyebola ©, Carney, Bangs, Titterington, O'Sullivan, Sanders K, Sanders P, Mansley(W), Maxwell, Randles and Price.
