World Book Day

World Book Day is always a favourite at Stanfield. The children and staff dress up as a character from a favourite book. It is always great fun to see the procession of Princesses, James Bonds, Pirates and the odd Thing coming into assembly.
The children and staff alike go to great lengths to assemble costumes and gather props.
This year the children in reception were given a picture of Starry Night by Van Gogh to look at and use as inspiration for a piece of shared writing.
Each reception class generated lots of ideas and the beginnings of 3 stories were then passed to the year 1 classes.
Each class in each year group added to the story, inventing their own twists and turns until the stories reached year 6, who then completed them. Each story was read out in assembly today, the children; especially the infants, were excited to see what had happened next in 'their' story.

Well done to all the children, it was great fun.
