School Council

The School Council is run by Miss Crichton & Mrs Lymath and includes two representatives from each junior class.
The School Council was set up to involve the pupils in decision-making and to involve the whole school community in developing and maintaining shared standards of behaviour.
We respect pupils as partners in their own education. We believe by working with them they make a positive contribution to the school ethos and environment. The children learn to listen to others and recognise themselves as worthwhile individuals with a right to be heard. They learn self-confidence, social skills and morally responsible behaviour towards each other and towards their teachers and helpers.
The Council enhances the influence of positive peer leadership and contributing to their school community allows children to grow in self-esteem. Every child learns from personal experience how to contribute to society as a whole and what it means to be an active citizen.
Each person in the class should feel that the school council belongs to them not just to the representatives who go to meetings.
It is not only the opinions of the representatives that are important. They have been elected to represent the views of every member of the class.
