Year 6 visited Quarry Bank Mill on April 17th to undertake field work about the River Bollin.

Despite it being a very cold day, the girls enjoyed themselves and learnt a lot by seeing erosion, deposition and meanders in real life.
They measured the depth and rate of flow of the river, looked at how clean the water was and then waded in to the river (in their multi-coloured wellies!) to see what animal life they could catch in nets.
They also did some sound mapping, played Pooh Sticks and learned how to use a clinometer to measure gradient.

The girls net minibeasts in the river
