Aim - To establish competent levels of knowledge, understanding and practical ability in rescue situations.

This will include:-

  • Understanding of Lifesaving-water safety, Survival in water and Rescue principals.
  • Ability in Rescue skills- Casualty simulation, Casualty recognition, Initiative tests.
  • Swimming strokes-Breast stroke, Back stroke and Side stroke
  • Rescues-Reaching, Throwing, Wading, Non contact and Contact.
  • Defensive techniques.
  • Escape techniques
  • Landings-Assisted and Unassisted

Life Support

Aim - To demonstrate an effective level of skills in life support and knowledge of the diagnosis and management of chocking, bleeding and shock.

This will include:-

  • Awareness of own safety
  • Assessing of responsiveness
  • Summoning help
  • Giving rescue breaths
  • Combining chest compression (CPR) and rescue breathing
  • Action for vomiting
  • Recovery position
  • Diagnosis and treatment of chocking, bleeding and shock
