CCF Inspection Day

CCF Inspection Day this year took place on March 27. The cadets put on outstanding displays and activities for each of their sections under both the spring sunshine and the attentive eyes of this year's inspecting officer, Rear Admiral Philip Jones.

The Guard of Honour inspection was followed by a spectacular Final Parade at the end of the day and the impressive helicopter that landed on the Boys' School's playing fields certainly caused quite a commotion.

Merchants' Combined Cadet Force is open to boys and girls from Year 9 onwards and consists of three sections the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force. The contingent has grown in size this year, and now stands at 281, the largest number since the CCF became voluntary nearly thirty years ago.

Rear Admiral Philip Jones is the Operation Commander for Operation ATLANTA - the first maritime operation to patrol the coast of Somalia to protect the world sea trade against piracy attacks. This operation was set up following the seizure by pirates of Saudi's supertanker MV Sirius Star.
