From the original legacy that launched the Boy's School back in 1620, Merchant Taylors' Schools have thrived upon the generous donations of others. Merchant Taylors' has a strong tradition of providing academic excellence, whilst cultivating an all-round education for its pupils. Fee income helps to sustain this superb educational standard but the Schools still need support to build new facilities and to provide essential funding for Assisted Places (Bursaries).

As an Independent School with Charitable Trust status, the funding we receive through bequests and gifts makes all the difference. Over the years many of the Schools' new buildings or refurbishments have been at least part-financed by the gifts of others. Without the foresight of benefactors such as these, the Schools would not be the place they are today, providing the best environment possible to ensure "The Best Education for Life".

Merchant Taylors' Schools receive no state support for either capital builds or Assisted Places and most development plans we have, rely on collaboration between like-minded donors and the Schools themselves.

For those of you keen (or budding) "eBayers" out there, we are pleased to announce that the Merchant Taylors' Schools' General Charitable Trust is now designated as a beneficiary of the "eBay for Charity" scheme.

This means that you can offer all, or part of the proceeds of a sale, in favour of our Charitable Trust. The Merchant Taylors' Schools' General Charitable Trust helps to provide essential funding for bursaries so that young people with aptitude but not the financial resources, can benefit from an excellent Merchant Taylors' education.
