Speech Day
The annual Speech Day took place on Friday 16th November, at Philharmonic Hall, Liverpool. The chief guest was Air Marshall Sir Christopher Coville, who presented the prizes to numerous boys before giving a thought-provoking speech, revolving around the three letters: DCO - Duty Carried Out.
Reports by the Chairman of Governors, Mr Leo Coligan, and the Headmaster, Mr David Cook, recorded the many achievements and successes of the past year. Mr Cook also paid tribute once more to the memory of Ian Robinson, whose absence is still deeply felt by pupils and colleagues alike.
There was a musical interlude of items by the Swing Band, and an outstanding solo trumpet performance by Peter Fletcher. The Head of School, Andrew Cunningham had the task of proposing the Vote of Thanks to Sir Christopher. Both Peter and Andrew were congratulated by the Headmaster at a subsequent Assembly for the way in which they carried out their respective jobs in such a pressurised, public and high-profile a situation.
