Boys' School admissions procedure

This is the typical process of applying for entry to Year 7:

Year 5 - Summer Term

ACTIVITIES DAY - an opportunity for boys in year 5 to spend a day in the School, and experience a wide range of interesting, exciting (and educational!) activities.

Year 6 - Autumn Term

OPEN MORNING - a chance for boys and their parents to see around the whole School, look at exhibits, take part in demonstrations, meet staff and pupils, and ask any of the many questions they have.

Year 6 - Spring Term

11+ ENTRANCE EXAMINATION - The Entrance Exam takes place in January or early February. There are papers in Verbal Reasoning, Maths and English. The papers are common to both the Boys' and the Girls' Schools. The Primary School is also asked to provide a report on the pupil. The dates for publications of the results, and acceptance of offers is agreed with the Liverpool Consortium of Independent Schools.

Entry to the school for Years 8 - 11

Most boys enter the Main School in Year 7, having taken the 11+ Entrance Exam.

Entry to the school for Years 8 - 11 is made by contacting the school directly. Offers of a place are subject to availability and examination success. If a place is available, the pupil will be invited to spend a day in school during which he will be tested in Verbal Reasoning, Mathematics, English, a Foreign Modern Language and Science.

Applications are also welcome for the Sixth Form.

There are typical entry expectations in terms of GCSE results, and this would be discussed during an informal interview.
