Combined Cadet Force

The flourishing voluntary contingent of the Combined Cadet Force is a joint activity with Merchant Taylors' Girls' School. There are over 280 boys and girls involved and, in addition to weekly training, they have the opportunity of attending a variety of camps and courses, both in Great Britain and overseas. Mountaineering, camping, sailing, flying and shooting are just some of the activities in which they can get involved. Both boys and girls are encouraged to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and many achieve success in Bronze, Silver and Gold awards. A central aim of the CCF is to develop the leadership and teamwork skills of our young people. CCF meets on a Thursday evening between 4.10 and 6.00.

The CCF is run largely by the older and more senior cadets, under the guidance of the adult staff. The CCF belongs to its cadets, and it is to their credit that it is so large, so busy and so successful. Scroll down to see what the CCF have been up to.

Army Scholarship

Watching the sacrifices made by the British Armed forces overseas drove Sixth Former Kieran Horan to apply to Sandhurst. The muscular 6ft 4ins athlete and academic has now been rewarded with a valuable army scholarship that will part-fund his Sixth Form and university studies.
