Fieldwork at Merchant Taylors' Boys' School Geography Department

  • We took a group to the Alps in the summer. This was an eight day tour staying close to the resort of Chamonix
  • Year 7 Chester in April/May - combined trip with Classics. Geography work looks at the urban environment in Chester.
  • Year 8 River Yarrow, Lancashire in May. Study of the river processes operating on the river and the human effects on its surrounding area.
  • Year 9 Malham, Yorkshire Dales in September. Trip looks at the spectacular limestone landscape and the processes responsible for its formation. Also looks at the impact of tourist in the area.
  • Year 10 Lake District in April. Two day residential based around Grasmere. A day doing coursework based on the honeypot of Bowness, look at a range of issues affecting the settlement. Second day looking at the impact of glaciation on the Lake District.
  • Lower 6 Yorkshire in March. Three day trip preparing the AS students for their summer module. There is work carried out on the east coast, Hull and Beverley.
  • Lower 6 Ainsdale sand dunes in September. A study of the sand dune system leading to work to be carried out on a module in January of Lower 6.
