Geography is taught throughout the school in three specialist rooms in the Armour Building. There are five members of the department:

In the first three years there are two or three 40 minute lessons. Geography can then be chosen as an option for GCSE. Approximately three quarters of Years 10 and 11 opt for the subject. At GCSE there are four 40 minute lessons. A Level Geography is a popular option with between 20 and 30 students taking up the subject. At A Level students are taught by three different members of staff and have seven or eight lessons a week.
Fieldwork plays an integral role in delivering the subject and so there are a variety of trips that we offer to complement the schemes of work. At A level there are numerous trips including a residential trip.
In school we run a clinic on a Monday to offer extra help to students. We also run a Humanities Club on alternate Thursday lunchtimes where Lower School students are encouraged to participate in a variety of ideas linked to Geography and History.
Each year group follows a programme of study based around key stages 3, 4 and 5. For full details see the table for each key stage. In years 7 to 9 the assessment of work includes homework, tests and project work. At GCSE and A level the work reflects the demands required at those levels and includes the use of past questions to reinforce ideas and concepts learnt in class.
