Head of Junior School appointed
The text of a letter to parents of the Junior School is reproduced below:
22nd November 2007
Dear Parents,
As you may know, Mr Brian Bennett, Head of the Junior School, has announced his intention to retire at the end of this academic year after 22 years' distinguished service at the school. There will be opportunities later in the year for both the school and parents to celebrate the remarkable success of Mr Bennett's headship.

Mrs Janet Thomas
In the meantime I am delighted to inform you that the Governors have appointed Mrs Janet Thomas, currently Acting Head Teacher at Runnymede School in Liverpool, as the new Head Teacher of Merchant Taylors' Junior Boys' School from September 2008. Educated in Chester and Liverpool and with a Masters degree from Liverpool University, Mrs Thomas was previously Director of Studies at Liverpool College Junior School and then gained promotion to Deputy Head at Runnymede. For the past eighteen months she has taken on the added responsibility of the role of Acting Head Teacher. Mrs Thomas will bring a wealth of experience and a fresh approach to our extremely successful school. She has two sons and a daughter, lives in Liverpool and when she is not ferrying her sons to either rugby or football fixtures, is heavily involved with Guide Dogs for the Blind.
Mrs Thomas is very much looking forward to her new challenge and to getting to know parents, staff and boys of the school. There will be an opportunity for parents to meet her informally, probably during the Summer Term.
Yours sincerely,
D H Cook
