Boys aged 14 - 16: Years 10 - 11
All boys take the GCSE examinations at the end of Year 11, in nine, ten or sometimes 11 subjects which include a core of English Language and Literature, Mathematics, French, Physics and Chemistry.

In addition, boys may choose to study three or four of Biology, Latin, Greek, German, Spanish, History, Geography, Art, Design and Technology and Music.
There is a cross-curricular approach to Information Technology to ensure that all boys have the opportunity of developing skills in word-processing, data input and retrieval, spreadsheets and control technology. Personal and social education is also approached in a cross-curricular way, with aspects of sex education, drugs, tobacco, alcohol and social issues being studied naturally as they arise in particular subjects, especially Biology, Religious Studies, History and English.
