Headmaster's Welcome

We are not a big School - with 670 boys in the Senior School, we know every boy. The individual is important; every boy can be himself. The first impressions a visitor gains are usually the warm, friendly atmosphere and the boys' confidence.

We are academically selective, but not socially exclusive - one of the strengths is the good mix of people here. We have a curriculum tailored to meet boys' needs, but at the same time, we benefit from the close links with Merchant Taylors' Girls' School.

Whilst the academic work is of prime importance (and recent exam results have confirmed the School's place as the best boys' school on Merseyside) what happens in the classroom is certainly not the only thing that matters. A huge amount of time and effort is spent by boys and staff in a great range of extra-curricular activities - and our hope is that all boys can find something in which to become involved, and to enjoy.

Our online prospectus is here. Whilst I hope you will enjoy reading about the School, this can only give you a brief insight - there is no better way of finding out what the School is really like, than to come and visit us. Follow the link to move on through the pages.

I am always happy to show prospective boys and their parents around the School.

Please phone our Registrar, Mrs Phyllis Saffer, on 0151 928 5759 to arrange your personal visit around our School or to receive a copy of the prospectus.

You can also email her here.

I hope this website will encourage you to want to come and visit us soon. I look forward to meeting you and welcoming you and your son.
