Physics

The Physics Department is:

Mr P J Cooper - HoD

Dr A J Patchett

Mr M Toney

Mr D Miller

The Physics Department thrives within the School. A healthy majority of students elect to take the subject as a single GCSE, and typically a third of the Sixth Form cohort will elect the subject as one of their A level choices. Over the past three years 80% of students have achieved an A or B grade at A level including 50% at A* in 2010. Our physics students routinely go on to study at top UK universities, pursuing not only physics and engineering, but many other subjects such as law, economics, and medicine.

The department has tapped a strong vein of enthusiasm within the School population and we encourage students to take up the many opportunities available outside of the examinable curriculum. Our students take advantage of public lectures, summer schools, and national competitions in order to develop their interest, depth of knowledge and skills.
