The Boys' School got six of the best when half a dozen brilliant young academics earned offers from top Oxbridge colleges.

David Firth, 17, from Southport, has an offer to read Medicine at Trinity College, Cambridge, and hopes to join his father Gregory Firth, who is a G.P. in Churchtown, in the medical profession, "either in surgery, medicine or research."
James Edis, 17, Garston, has earned an offer from Christ Church College, Oxford, to read History. James said: "I chose History because I am fascinated by how society has evolved and how we became who we are today. At the moment we living through a momentous period in world history and the parallels between now and the Great Depression are remarkable."
Johnny Lui, 18, from Huyton, has an offer to read Architecture at Magdalene College, Oxford. Johnny has been inspired by Liverpool's classical skyline and said: "I love the Liver Building, the Three Graces and all that 18th Century Liverpool has to offer architecturally, but ultimately I want to set up my own practice that specialises in designing environmentally sustainable buildings."
Sam Sutton, 18, from Crosby, has an offer to read Natural Sciences at Homerton College, Cambridge. A seventh term entrant, Sam is spending his gap year working in research at Liverpool University. A Platinum Exscitec Award Winner for original research into the synthesis and self-assembly of novel metal oxides, Sam is currently applying his research to bio medical applications.
Oliver Guest, 18, from Birkdale, has an offer to read Classics at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. Currently the only student studying Ancient Greek A Level, Oliver said: "It's probably the hardest A Level you could chose, and though I miss bouncing ideas off classmates the individual attention is very helpful." He added: "Our society is pretty much dominated by the ideas of the ancient Greeks. The very idea of democracy is an ancient Greek concept, though I have to say we are not living up to those ideals at the moment, after all was Gordon Brown elected by the people to the position of Prime Minister. I think not."
John Farrell, Head of Sixth Form, said: "We have some hugely talented young men who have won offers across an eclectic range of subjects to some of Oxford and Cambridge's very best colleges."
