Dr A J PATCHETT, HEAD OF SIXTH FORM, TEACHER OF PHYSICS

Dr AJ Patchett is a graduate of the University of Liverpool, where he also completed his PhD in Physics. Following his studies in Liverpool Dr Patchett enjoyed a number of years working in basic research at a number of universities and research establishments in Italy, Germany, Ireland and the UK. Prior to joining the School as a teacher of Physics in 2001 Dr Patchett completed a PGCE at King's College London, and assumed the Head of Physics position here at the School in 2006. In 2010 he took on the role of supervising university applications, and the following year made the transition from Head of Physics to Head of Sixth Form. Dr Patchett works closely with the British Physics Olympiad and the local branch of the Institute of Physics. When not busy with educational matters Dr Patchett may be found on the fore-deck of an offshore racing yacht or alternatively, with his head stuck into a book, often history or contemporary fiction.
