Triangular Golf match 2011

Old Boys’ Association Triangular Golf Match

The West Lancashire Links, Blundellsands  -  30th June 2011

Old Crosbeians played host this year to OMT Northwood, and Old Wulfrunians at the annual Triangular Match for the “Auld Drutter” kindly presented in 1987 by Ken Owens.

A few traumas befell team selection, including one member falling off a ladder just seven days before the match, when he should have known that he was expected to be in full training with chipping, putting, and driving. I am delighted to report that he is fully on the mend. In consequence, “super-subs” were called upon at short notice.

Local knowledge of the vagaries of this links course were a great asset, and in consequence Old Crosbeians triumphed on the day, scoring a total of 202 points. Our team was a mixture of young and old players with handicaps ranging from 6 to 24, so there is room for Old Crosbeians of all ages and ability to participate, and I urge those who have not experienced the friendly rivalry of this golfing fixture to come forward and try it. You won’t be disappointed.

If you are an Old Boy who hasn’t played before in this annual fixture please let me know of your interest:
