Old Boys’ Association Triangular Golf Match
The West Lancashire Links, Blundellsands - 30th June 2011Old Crosbeians played host this year to OMT Northwood, and Old Wulfrunians at the annual Triangular Match for the “Auld Drutter” kindly presented in 1987 by Ken Owens.
A few traumas befell team selection, including one member falling off a ladder just seven days before the match, when he should have known that he was expected to be in full training with chipping, putting, and driving. I am delighted to report that he is fully on the mend. In consequence, “super-subs” were called upon at short notice.
Local knowledge of the vagaries of this links course were a great asset, and in consequence Old Crosbeians triumphed on the day, scoring a total of 202 points. Our team was a mixture of young and old players with handicaps ranging from 6 to 24, so there is room for Old Crosbeians of all ages and ability to participate, and I urge those who have not experienced the friendly rivalry of this golfing fixture to come forward and try it. You won’t be disappointed.
