Maggie Hart, Head of Geography at MTGS said: "Results over the last decade have been consistently outstanding in Geography and we simply cannot do any better. While numbers taking this subject nationally continue to decline, girls at Merchants have bucked the trend."

She added: "We have a vastly experienced department who enthuse our students with a genuine passion for the subject.  Not only does Geography provide a set of transferable skills including the ability to analyse data, predict trends and write detailed reports but it also educates our brightest and youngest in the most pressing issues facing the planet and a 100% pass rate at grade A show that Merseyside's young women have a strong social conscience."
