2011 Examination Results

We want all our students to enjoy their learning and develop their understanding, skills and confidence in the subject. We have excellent resources: a new suite of Apple Mac computers, sewing machines for Creative Textiles and of course Merseyside's premier school gallery - The Vitreum. Students and the whole school community have daily access to many works of art which are part of a rolling programme of exhibitions designed to enhance the curriculum.

The Art Department

All pupils have weekly art lessons throughout the first three years. In the first year the emphasis is placed on drawing from observation and introducing pupils to a wide variety of materials and techniques. Enrichment trips for different year groups include workshops at the Walker Art Gallery, FACT, The Clothes Show Live and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. We also hold annual field trips to make art in tje local environment.

The Vitreum

The Vitreum Arts Centre is an exciting resource for the students and school community. Dance, poetry and music performances by outside practitioners as well as our own students at lunchtimes and after school help us to enjoy and experience cultural and creative events on a regular basis.

The gallery showcases the work of local and national artists with an exhibition programme which complements the curriculum. Artists hold workshops and talks to further extend the students' learning.
