Ex-students raise money for fantastic causes - February 2010
In June 2010 Henry Seal is taking part in an expedition to Everest Base Camp in order to raise money for the charity Childreach International, an organisation which funds projects for children around the world. He needs to raise £2200 in order to participate in the expedition. Money will go towards three projects in Nepal; Dhulikhel Hospital, Yangrima School and Antardristi (care homes for sexually abused children). He would be grateful for any donations towards his target for this worthy cause.

Hollie Sheriff and her sister Laura are raising money for Helen & Douglas House. They have a target of £3,000 and are running the London Marathon. Helen & Douglas House is a registered charity providing respite and end of life care for children and young adults with life-shortening conditions, as well as support and friendship for the whole family. The two hospice houses are bright, vibrant and positive places, where the emphasis is on living life to the full, even when that life may be short.
Zoe's Place - December 2009
9M recently raised £150 for Zoe's Place. This is a baby hospice that offers palliative respite and terminal care for children up to the age of 5 years with complex and life limiting illnesses. During December some members from 9M organised a sale of Christmas cards and teddies. The response from the girls was amazing with 100 teddies being sold during lunch time.

Pancake Day for Children in Need - November 2009

Five take a hike for the NSPCC
Five Formby residents including our own Mrs Childs took on a 25 mile walking challenge in the Llyn Peninsula, North Wales in September to raise funds for the NSPCC. The Hack - Hike Against Cruelty to Kids - was certainly a tough challenge but the weather was perfect with beautiful scenery, great company and plenty of giggles along the way. The walk was completed in 10 hours and the group raised £1565 for the NSPCC ! The members of the group were Sue and Steve Breen, Alistair Sharman, Mark and Sheena Childs.

Juilet Day 1 July 2009
So far our resourceful girls have raised £658.92 for the Malawian Oraphanage that is the annual beneficiary of the 'fun' fundraising day. Hook-a-duck, decorate-a-biscuit, and totally-drench-a-member-of-staff were just some of the activities that were available.

Red Nose Day - March 2009

The Catering Staff
The girls and staff raised well over £800 pounds for Comic Relief this year and had great fun in the process! Check back here later in the week for reviews of the day from Year 8 and more photos of the mayhem.

Staff Olympics 2009

Team MTGS
You could cut the tension in the Centenary Hall with a knife on 2nd March as staff milled around both mentally and physically preparing themselves for the esteemed Staff Olympics. However this event was not only to show off sporting prowess but also to raise money for Reach, an association for children with hand or arm deficiencies, which gives families help and advice, and allows them to share their experiences and cope with disabilities. The event also helped raised money for Mr Lamb's 500K run in aid of cancer research the upcoming Sport's Hall.

Mrs Stenson is a blur on the hulahoop
Not winning seemed to not be an option for most staff with Mr Routledge claiming ‘Natural ability will shine through. I'm extremely confident' however others were not quite so sure. ‘I don't really know what I'm doing.' confessed a nervous Mr Tillotson.
The competitors would be expected to endure four gruelling rounds of basketball, football, hula hooping and even press ups! However, despite the fantastically high standard of all the participants, it turned out that natural ability did shine through as Mr Routledge was declared the overall winner. All the staff and girls involved were great sports and put in a lot of time and effort, and the event was not only hugely enjoyable, but also managed to raise around £100 for some great causes.

Thanksgiving Service - December 2008
Donations from the Thanksgiving Service totalling £143.30 will be sent to SWACA: Sefton Women and Childrens' Aid. This charity provides essential services for women, children and young people suffering from domestic violence. Any further information regarding this can be found by accessing the SWACA website.
Operation Christmas Child - December 2008
We have supported Operation Christmas Child again this year and, under the guidance of Mrs Carter, Mrs Hurst and member of the Charities committee, 88 boxes were brought into school to be sent to children in countries in both Europe and Africa. The boxes were predominantly collected by Year 7 pupils, but all years had some involvement. Well done girls! Click here to be transfered to Operation Christmas Child's website.

Charity Staff Netball Match - November 2008
On Monday 17th November staff teamed up to play in a charity netball match.

The Green Team comprised of Mr Routledge, Mr Evans, Mr Jones, Mr Wood, Mrs Miller, Mrs Heywood and Mr Price.

The Yellow Team; Mrs Syms, Mrs Colvin, Miss Tyndall (sub Dr Barge), Mrs Houghton, Dr McWatt, Mr Lamb, and Mr Hood.
The Green Team was victorious after Mr Evans successfully netted a rebound. Spectators, however, felt that the Yellows were unlucky!
Money raised will be used to support a prostate cancer charity and will help towards our own fundraising for the Sports Hall. If you enjoyed watching this please support the forthcoming Staff Olympics, organised by Year 11.

Jeans for Genes Day - October 2008
The whole school came in their denims on Friday 3rd October in support of the ‘Jeans for Genes' campaign. The charity raises money for research into genetic disorders. This annual event raised £489 and was organized by Year 11 and the Sixth Form Charities Committee.

Harvest Festival - September 2008
Harvest Festival took place on Wednesday 24th September and was again a huge success. Over 70 boxes of food were donated by girls and their families.
Some of the boxes go to Age Concern with the majority being delivered to the local community by the Crosby Lions.
The competition for the form to fill the most boxes was won by 7T, form tutor Miss Stephanie Jackson

Thank you to Rothwell's Mushroom Farm, The Crosby Lions, and all of the girls from bringing in items for the boxes
Save the Children - September 2008
Our Thanksgiving Service at the end of the Summer Term included a collection for 'Save the Children'. We raised £88 end which was presented to Barbara Corlette in assembly. In addition to this our very own Mrs Carter has been campaigning for volunteers to knit hats for premature babies which will be distributed by 'Save the Children'. Over 200 hats were knitted by Mrs Carter, girls in knitting club, friends and relatives of the school. Thank you to Mrs Carter and everyone who has been involved in this campaign.

Mr. Lamb's 500k challenge
Mr. Deane Lamb is planning on running 500 competitive kilometres in one school year to raise money for Cancer Research UK, starting with the Crosby 10 miler on Sunday 22nd June!
500k equates to over a marathon a month and is far enough to run to Brugge!
Make sure you sponsor him on any of the forms around school or on the above link to help him raise as much money as possible.
