When you hear the words "English lesson" what springs to mind......endless grammar or spelling tests? We hope not, as the reality is very different!
The subject covers a wide range of stimulating work; one day you may be reading the exciting kind of book you just can't put down, the next you could be designing advertisements or printing leaflets, creating a short story or improvising a scene for role play, discussing current issues or going on a theatre trip:- the possibilities are endless!
Learning English provides you with ample opportunities to develop vital communication skills, in speech and in writing, and to understand, both through literature and in many other ways, the complex world we live in.

It is therefore not surprising that large numbers of girls go on to choose English Literature or English Language and Literature at AS/A2 Level. They derive much enjoyment and success from studying English in the sixth form, leaving school with a love of the subject, and of books, that will be lifelong.
