Sports Day in the Sunshine
The Senior Girls' School basked in glorious sunshine on Sports Day on Monday 28th June at Wavertree Sports Centre. The rain waited until the very moment the school buses were departing.
While the media lament the so called loss of competitive sports in schools - our girls proved that real competition, as well as camaraderie and enthusiasm, are very much alive. As Mrs Stenson, who commentated on the entire event and kept the girls amused with her jokes of varying degrees of humour, said: If the England Team had had Merchant Taylors' competitive spirit, the World Cup would've been theirs!
Both track and field exhibited the fantastic talent we have here and everyone who competed, or even just cheered, should be very proud of themselves.
