Leadership Opportunities
Leadership and enrichment are central to the Sixth Form experience at Merchant Taylors’, offering pupils the chance to grow as individuals, contribute meaningfully to the School community, and prepare for life beyond the classroom. Our Sixth Formers are encouraged to take on a variety of leadership roles that develop confidence, initiative, and a strong sense of responsibility.
Pupils can apply for prestigious positions such as Senior Prefect, House Captain, or Music Captain, where they play a key role in shaping school life and supporting their peers. These roles offer valuable experience in communication, organisation, and teamwork, skills that are highly regarded by universities and employers alike. Sixth Formers also have the opportunity to mentor younger pupils, providing guidance and encouragement while developing empathy and leadership in the process.
Beyond formal roles, pupils can join the Sixth Form Leadership Seminars, which focus on essential skills such as strategic thinking, conflict resolution, and public speaking. These sessions are designed to empower pupils to lead with confidence and integrity, both within school and in the wider world.
The School also encourages pupil voice through committees and councils, where Sixth Formers help plan events, shape policy, and represent their peers. Whether leading a co-curricular club, organising a charity initiative, or supporting school events, pupils are given the platform to make a real impact.
These enrichment opportunities are not only about leadership, they are about discovering passions, building character, and becoming active, engaged members of a thriving school community.
