Year 6 Perform Samson Musical

On Friday 26th February Year 6 performed Samson the Musical in front of an enthusiastic audience in the Williams Hall. It was a remarkable effort as the boys only had one week to prepare for it! Samson is a well-known bible story to do with courage, strength and self-sacrifice. The musical, however has a few twists including links to the real world and breaking the fourth wall by rewriting the story (and lots of terrible jokes-some written by the teachers).
The play lasted roughly one hour and included a cast of around 33 characters, plus 14 dancers for the set pieces: “The Israelites” by Desmond Dekker and “my, my, my Delilah why, why, why Delilah” by Tom Jones.

There was also a substitution in the real performance where client 1 was replaced by Friend 1 in the hairdresser’s scene due to illness, but this did not disrupt the smooth running of the performance. Plenty applause was given in the ‘finale’ song ‘I Need a Hero’ and the show has been given high praise by all teachers, including Miss Hargreaves who was well enough to come and see it, we were pleased to see. Everyone, actors, audience and the pupils enjoyed the show and had lots of fun.
