Drama

Drama plays a central role in the creative life of Merchant Taylors’, offering pupils a rich and rewarding platform for self-expression, collaboration, and performance. We have a strong tradition of excellence in drama, with regular productions that showcase the talent, energy, and imagination of our pupils.

There are many opportunities for pupils to get involved, both on stage and behind the scenes. Our productions span a wide range of genres, from Shakespeare and political drama to farce, comedy, and musicals. These performances are produced to a professional standard, often involving large casts and attracting enthusiastic, sell-out audiences across multiple nights.

Pupils can take part as actors, or contribute in vital backstage roles such as lighting, AV, set design, and stage management. Every production is a team effort, and we value the creativity and commitment of all those involved.

Drama at Merchant Taylors’ is about more than performance, it is about building confidence, communication skills, and a sense of community. Whether pupils are aspiring performers or simply looking to try something new, they are encouraged to take part, take risks, and enjoy the experience.
