Duke of Edinburgh
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme is a popular and rewarding part of life at Merchant Taylors’, offering pupils in Year 10 and above the opportunity to challenge themselves, grow in confidence, and develop valuable life skills. Open to both boys and girls, the scheme encourages independence, resilience, and a spirit of adventure.
Many of our pupils go on to achieve Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards, supported every step of the way by experienced staff. Training is provided for all sections of the award, with weekly after-school sessions and additional training days in the spring term to help pupils prepare for their expeditions.
Our intrepid groups of explorers take on expeditions in stunning locations such as the Lake District, Clwyd, and Denbighshire. These experiences, often held during school holidays, are not only physically and mentally rewarding; they also help to forge lasting friendships and unforgettable memories.
Whether pupils are volunteering in their communities, learning new skills, or navigating the hills with a rucksack and compass, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a powerful way to build character and prepare for life beyond school.
