Sport
At Merchant Taylors’, sport is more than just physical activity it is a vital part of our Sixth Form experience, promoting well-being, teamwork, and personal achievement. Alongside their academic studies, our Sixth Formers enjoy a wide range of competitive and recreational sporting opportunities that support a healthy, balanced lifestyle.
Pupils benefit from access to our outstanding facilities, including the fully equipped fitness suite and the Ian Robinson Sports Centre. Whether training for elite performance or simply staying active, every pupil is encouraged to find a sport they enjoy and to take pride in their participation.
We provide numerous opportunities both on and off the field:
• Competitive Fixtures in rugby, hockey, rowing, netball, cricket, athletics, and more;
• Recreational Clubs for pupils who want to stay active in a more relaxed setting;
• Coaching Roles where Sixth Formers mentor and inspire younger pupils;
• Trips to Major Sporting Events offering insight and inspiration;
• International Sports Tours to destinations such as Australia, Singapore, Spain, Canada, New Zealand, and South Africa.
Our co-curricular sport programme is designed to foster leadership, resilience, and a lifelong love of physical activity. Whether representing the School on the pitch or supporting others from the side-lines, pupils gain a sense of achievement, camaraderie, and school spirit.
