Sixth Form Facilities

Sixth Form Centre

Our Sixth Form students have access to their own dedicated Sixth Form Centre.

The centre is located towards the rear of the school site and offers a sanctuary for study and an opportunity for students to relax or catch up with their friends away from the bustle of the main school.

Facilities includes a separate ICT suite and study area which students can use at any time of day and in their free periods to support their A Level study, as well as a soft seating area and entertainment.

Sport and Fitness

Sixth Form students at Merchant Taylors’ have access to a wide range of sport and leisure facilities.

We have large playing fields and excellent sports and fitness facilities on site in our state-of-the-art sports centre, which comprises a fitness suite, gym, weight training area, a climbing wall and a large sports hall equipped for badminton, basketball, tennis, football and indoor cricket and many other sports.

In addition, we have an extensive sports ground at Hall Road in Blundellsands and we also own a share of the international standard Astroturf at the Northern Club.
For those who wish to take part in competitive sports, we play fixtures against a wide range of other leading schools in rugby, football, cricket, hockey and athletics, to name but a few, and our teams regularly enjoy success on the sports field.

Dining Room

We are proud of the food we offer to students at Merchant Taylors’.

Our catering partners, Chartwells Independent, prepare a daily selection of hot meals inspired by cuisine from around the world. These are accompanied by a fresh salad bar and deli area and a host of delicious handmade desserts.

The wide range of food on offer in our beautifully refurbished dining room means there will always be something to suit even the most cultured Sixth Form palate. Take a look at a sample menu here.

Sixth Formers are also welcome to leave the school grounds at lunchtime and purchase food from nearby supermarkets and independent cafes and sandwich shops.
