Well-Being

At Merchant Taylors’, we believe that true academic success is rooted in personal well-being. Our Sixth Form Well-being Programme is designed to support every pupil’s mental, emotional, and social development, empowering them to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.

Guided by our core values of Ambition, Character, and Excellence, we provide a nurturing environment where pupils feel safe, supported, and inspired. From personalised pastoral care and structured independence to leadership opportunities and co-curricular enrichment, our holistic approach ensures that every Sixth Former is equipped with the resilience, confidence, and self-awareness needed for lifelong success.

Our dedicated Well-being Centre, Mulberry House, sits at the heart of our campus, offering a calm and welcoming space for reflection, support, and growth. Whether through our PSHE programme, peer mentoring, or access to professional guidance, we prioritise the health and happiness of every individual.

Our Well-being programme offers:

• A strong pastoral network led by experienced Form Tutors and the Head of Sixth Form;
• A coeducational, inclusive environment that fosters emotional intelligence and social maturity;
• Leadership development through prefect roles, mentoring, and pupil-led initiatives;
• Access to enrichment activities including the Duke of Edinburgh Award, CCF, and TENDO;
• A vibrant social calendar that promotes balance, connection, and joy.

Research shows that pupils who feel supported and valued perform better academically and socially. At Merchant Taylors’, we do not just prepare pupils for exams, we prepare them for life.
