About Prep
The Prep School, part of the Merchant Taylors’ Schools in Crosby, is a joyful and nurturing environment where children aged 4 to 11 begin their educational journey with confidence, curiosity and joy. We are proud to be a happy, caring school where every child is encouraged to explore, discover and grow in a secure and inspiring setting. From their very first steps with us, pupils are supported by expert teachers who gently nurture their independence, creativity and resilience. Our school offers an unparalleled range of facilities and a vibrant, modern learning environment full of colour and life, where the personalities of our children shine through in every corner. Following a major redevelopment, the Prep now boasts state-of-the-art teaching rooms, an outstanding Reception unit, a specialist Lego Robotics Classroom, and a dedicated Music studio. Our recently developed outdoor space includes a large wooden play area, outdoor classrooms, a sensory zone, climbing wall and a multi-use games area (MUGA), all designed to support active, imaginative and inclusive learning.
In addition to our own spacious hall, children benefit from access to shared facilities across the wider Merchant Taylors’ campus. These include the magnificent Sports Centre and playing fields on the Harrison site, the extensive newly building sports ground at Hall Road, and the AstroTurf at the local Northern Club. Pupils also enjoy access to senior school science laboratories, pottery kilns and specialist teaching staff, enriching their learning experience and building familiarity that supports a smooth and confident transition at Year 6.
